Hoda Kotb Touches Down In Paris For Olympics

On Wednesday, Hoda Kotb took to Instagram to share several photos and videos of her leaving Studio 1A. In the clips, she revealed that she was headed to the airport for a flight to Paris.

She will be covering the Olympics, along with several of her Today costars, for NBC. Hoda admitted that she was “pumped” to jet out of NYC and was smiling ear to ear.

When she touched down in Paris, her videos continued. She quizzed her driver on various landmarks they passed, like the Arc de Triomphe, as she traveled around the city to collect her press credentials.

Fans were excited to see Hoda Kotb arrive in Paris, but many expressed concern about how she was able to stay awake. There is a significant time difference between New York and Paris, so many people are impacted by jet lag when they fly across “the pond.”

In her videos, she said that she arrived, checked in at the hotel, changed clothes, and immediately left to get to work. “Let’s hope she slept on the plane,” one fan commented. Another joked, “She must be running on adrenaline.”

NBC Olympics Coverage Starts Friday

Hoda Kotb is the first of the Today hosts to arrive in Paris. Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin are scheduled to arrive later in the week.

Savannah shared a post on Instagram pointing out each of the co-host’s wildly different approaches to travel. It was titled “celeb check-in with the Today anchors.” Each of them was asked who arrived at the airport first.

Hoda admitted, “I’m an early arriver. Al and I are always the first two there.” Al Roker agreed and said that he usually arrives at least two hours early for his flight.

Joking, Hoda Kotb said, “Then there is Savannah, as the wheels are moving.” Al backed up her statement, “(Savannah’s) running and throwing her bag on the plane.”

The ever-calm Craig Melvin has a more straightforward approach to traveling. “I get there like an hour and a half early. I don’t like to spend too much time at the airport, although I’m excited about going this time because they’ve got the new lounge,” he said.

All four Today anchors will meet up in Paris to start covering the Olympics on Friday. Hoda expressed excitement about hosting the event, but she’s excited about enjoying the atmosphere in Paris too.

“I want to do all the good things. I want to try all the Parisian things,” she said. Savannah Guthrie agreed, pointing out the significance of this year’s Olympic games.

She said, “It’s really the first time the world is getting together without any restrictions. This is a true, post-pandemic Olympics. It’s behind us, and it’s so thrilling. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s in Paris. Everybody is so excited to be there.”
