Jon Gosselin Talks TLC Salary, Reveals Massive Monetary Loss
Former TLC star Jon Gosselin is opening up about how much money he made on the show. And he also revealed he lost quite a bit in legal battles after quitting.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 ran from 2007-2009 before the Gosselins ultimately split up. Amid the divorce, Jon quit the show. Kate rebranded and continued the series as Kate Plus 8 until 2017.
Over the years, the Gosselin family’s chaotic break-up garnered a lot of interest from the media and fans. These days, Kate keeps a pretty low profile while Jon regularly gives interviews.
So how much did he make during his short-lived TLC run? To push the envelope further, how much did he lose?
Jon Gosselin Lost Quite A Bit In Legal Battles
The life of reality television isn’t for everyone. Jon Gosselin found that out the hard way. While he enjoyed a financially comfortable life while on TLC, the stress and pressure were too much for him in the end.
In a new interview with Domenick Nati, Jon opened up about his financial gains and losses.
“How much money did you make from the show?” Domenick asked the father of eight.
“How much money did I lose?” Jon replied. “A lot.”
The former TLC star elaborated, sharing that he was sued for quitting the series while under contract. So he ended up losing a lot of the money he earned rather than saving it.
But before leaving the network, Jon shared that he easily made over seven figures. He and his ex-wife Kate put a significant amount of the money in trusts for their eight children.
“The kids really made out [well] though because everything was buried in trusts for them,” Jon continued. He added that he made quite a bit of money through advertising and endorsements before the TLC legal battles. Some months he made around $350,000.
After quitting, he went back to working in IT. While IT is still an incredibly lucrative career, Jon never quite made the money he did in reality television.

The Former Reality Star Is On A Much Healthier Path
These days, Jon Gosselin is still pretty active on social media and regularly offers interviews with the press. Recently, he announced he lost 50 lbs and wanted to propose to his girlfriend by Thanksgiving. Jon still has a very strained relationship with the majority of his children. However, they all really seem to like his girlfriend, Stephanie.
Hopefully, Jon and his children can mend their broken relationships in time.
