Why Aaron & Devin’s ‘Bachelorette’ Beef Feels Familiar To Viewers
There’s clearly no love lost between Bachelorette contestants Aaron Erb and Devin Stader. Viewers felt deja vu watching the two men go head to head. Where have we seen this before? Keep reading to find out.
Aaron Erb & Devin Strader Feud Explained
Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette kicked off last week and there’s certainly no shortage of drama among the contestants already. The main source of tension is Devin Strader, who continuously steals time with Jenn away from the other suitors. Jenn Tran sent seven suitors home in the first week, but that still left 18 men vying for her attention.
The situation came to a head during the latest episode. The suitors left came to a consensus to give men who hadn’t had time with Jenn first dibs during the cocktail party. However, Devin didn’t honor the agreement and whisked Jenn away. That didn’t sit right with Thomas N., who confronted Devin.
Aaron Erb also took issue with Devin’s constant interruptions. Tensions boiled over later in the show when Aaron presented Devin with a gift. He gave the Bachelorette suitor a self-help book called “Principles for Self-Growth.”
Where have we seen something like that play out on the show before?
Why Bachelorette Beef Feels Familiar To Viewers
Contestants battling for time with the lead is a regular occurrence in the franchise. According to Sean Lowe, contestants and leads are discouraged from spending time together without the cameras rolling. A rule he promptly broke to spend more time with his future wife, Catherine.
Aaron Erb has a unique connection to Bachelor Nation. His twin brother is Noah Erb, who appeared on Season 16 of The Bachelorette and Season 7 of Bachelor In Paradise. Aaron seemed to take a page out of Noah’s book with the shady gift to his competition.
Noah butted heads with Bennett Jordan when they were both pursuing Tayshia Adams on Season 16. Bennett, who graduated from Harvard and never let anyone forget it, present Noah with a self-help book about emotional intelligence.
The moment between Noah and Bennett is lore among Bachelor Nation fans, but viewers were surprisingly less impressed by Aaron’s actions. In fact, many viewers called him out for being unoriginal.
What did you think about Aaron presenting Devin with a self-help book? Did he do to create a viral moment, indicating he may not be on the show for the right reasons? Sound off in the comments.
