Shannen Doherty Was ‘Hopeful’ About Survival Before Passing
Shannen Doherty shared she was feeling very “hopeful” about her chemo and survival before passing on Saturday, July 13th, 2024. Shannen Doherty Was ‘Hopeful’ About Survival Before Passing
As Shannen Doherty’s friends and former co-stars are mourning her and honoring the legacy she left behind, one of her last chats has resurfaced. She had a podcast, Let’s Be Honest and she discussed her upcoming chemo treatments. Admittedly, everything was very uncertain as she had beaten breast cancer in 2017. She was initially diagnosed in 2015 but found herself in remission two years later. Sadly, it came back in 2019 and she was in for the fight of her life. It seemed she had no idea what to expect but this time around, the chances were far better.
According to Page Six, Shannen opened up about the new chemo she was undergoing back in June 2024. After saying she was “hopeful,” she gave a timeline of what she and her doctors were looking at:
“I have no idea how long I’m going to be on the chemo for. I have no idea if it’s going to be, you know, three months or if it’s going to be six months. Or, if we’re, you know … if after three months it’s not working, if we’re going to change again.”
This was completely unknown territory for Shannen and her doctors. However, she felt much more positive knowing that she had some good things on her side:
“And it’s scary. It’s like a big wake-up call. At the same time, I got to say, there is some positivity there. And the positivity is that because my molecular structure of my cancer cells changed recently, it means there’s a lot more protocols for me to try.”
So, Shannen Doherty saw the options that she had in front of her, and that made her feel good about what was to come. Even if it was a long and hard road, she was optimistic and believed in what she was doing.

Just weeks after she gave that update, Shannen passed away at the age of 53. Her publicist shared the heartbreaking news which came as a shock to many. Mainly because Shannen had such an amazing outlook about what was ahead of her. Her podcast went on to honor her life and fans could not help but reminisce on all that she brought to the table.

Shannen Doherty’s co-stars like Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano, Jason Priestley, Brian Austin Green, and Carol Potter all shared tributes to her. Her Let’s Be Clear family also celebrated her life with a photo display on their Instagram page. They chose three photos from her time on Beverly Hills, 90210 and it was amazing to reflect on that time in her life.
