Will Katrina Law Return As Special Agent Jessica Knight?

Back in May, after the NCIS Season 21 finale episode, Katrina Law went to Instagram to say, “Guess we gotta wait for CBS Fall 😎 Until then..catch up on @ncisverse on @paramountplus. Thank you all for a wonderful season 🥰”

Will she be returning or not? One thing to note is that when Maria Bello, or Emily Wickersham left the series, they both wrote farewells on social media. Therefore, this is certainly a cliffhanger. Katrina Law is not showing her hand, nor is CBS.

When she spoke to TVLIne at the end of Season 21, Law was asked if she was returning. Her response was, “Hmmm….Better tune in for that season opener!” She is not about to give any of this cliffhanger story away!

Showrunner Weighs In On Possible NCIS Departure

However, showrunner Steve D. Binder shared with TV Line a bit of a cryptic statement about Katrina Law. Firstly, he said, “Well, you know, we’ve set something up there, and I will point you toward our track record where ‘You never know.’ We’ve had people look like they were going away and then it’s found out they weren’t going away, and then people who just disappear like Gibbs”

Instead, they are following what he labels “the Tony DiNozzo departure.” He left because of Tali. Binder points out that in the case of Knight, she has some career goals. When she sees her father, she is reminded of her ultimate goal. But, she met Jimmy and had this romance going on too. Binder reminds fans that with that relationship, “things are in flux in a way that it makes it easier for her to say goodbye.”

Yet, he does add more fuel to the idea that she is returning. “So, I will say this. We do aim to please, and we think the audience will be satisfied with where they see this go. Sometimes that satisfaction is bittersweet and sometimes it’s just pure joy. You’ll have to wait to find out which one it’s going to be.”
