Mama June Calls Her Daughters About Anna’s Cremains

Mama June Shannon called her daughters to inform them that Anna’s cremains had been delivered in an all-new sneak peek of the July 12 episode.

“Okay, so I know Alana [“Honey Boo Boo” Thompson] can’t be with us or whatever, but Anna actually came back to us today,” June shares with Pumpkin and Jessie over the phone. The WeTV star made a few comments about how “quick” the cremation process has been. Then, she continued, “So what I was trying to see is, if y’all just want to come over and us open up the box.”

Pumpkin has admittedly been struggling to stay afloat since Anna’s death. On the phone with Mama June, she says that she thinks it may be too soon for her to revisit the place where Anna died (her home). Instead, she’d rather everyone come to her house to open the cremains.

Jessie agreed with her sister, “I feel like it would make everybody a little more comfortable. We’re just not ready yet.” They all wrap up the call, agreeing to meet at Pumpkin’s house. June also mentioned calling Eldridge Toney, Anna’s husband, to let him know.

In an interview with producers, Pumpkin admits that she’s been in a “funk” and just recently worked her way out of that. She admits that she’s not sure how seeing her sister’s ashes will impact her mental health.

“With Anna gone, I’m still not okay,” she said in the interview. “And then getting the call that her cremains are ready is like, what the f—. Life, I know, has to continue to move on, but I just hope this doesn’t set me back, because I just got out of that funk.”

Keeping Anna’s Memory Alive

Each of the family members is doing what they can to keep Anna’s memory alive. Mama June shared that she has been keeping her daughter’s ashes in a bracelet.

“We very much still today, even six months later, keep her memory alive. For me, I personally have to talk about it all the time. She’s actually here with us today,” she said. “She’s here. I always tote her around.”

She continued, “That was her thing, that she wanted to be cremated and toted around, so I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s go, girl.'”

Mama June has also been candid about sharing Anna Cardwell’s last moments on television. “We never thought that we would have to lose somebody in our family. We didn’t think we was going to experience that ever in reality TV,” she has said.

New episodes of Mama June: Family Crisis air on Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on WeTV.
