‘Dexter’ Prequel Adds Joe Pantoliano, Others In Recurring Roles
The Dexter prequel, Original Sin, is generating buzz and really picking up steam. In addition to the confirmation of some major star power in leading roles, there have been some significant famous faces signing on for recurring roles as well, including industry favorite actor, Joe Pantoliano. Here’s what else we know about who is joining the cast.
Dexter: Original Sin Taking Viewers Back To The Beginning
For any viewers who were along for the ride when the original Dexter series aired, there was a rich backstory. At the time, the series took place with Dexter Morgan in the current era, with flashbacks alluding to how he grew up and became the vigilante serial killer that he did.
However, with this new prequel series, Original Sin, Dexter’s origin story is getting the space to breathe in order to fully flesh out the character in his early years. Following the success of both the original program and the success of Dexter: New Blood in 2021, Original Sin is going to go a long way toward building the Dexter universe that loyal fans love.
Dexter: Original Sin Recently Added Some Major Star Power In Leading Roles
The 10-episode Dexter prequel takes place in Miami in the early 90s. Because of this, there was an effort made to cast a lot of famous actors who had their heyday in that era. In this regard, the casting directors certainly succeeded. Christian Slater plays Dexter’s dad, and the one responsible for helping him manage his urges and develop his “code.”
As it turns out, Christian Slater isn’t the only notable 90s actor stepping into a lead role for Original Sin, either. Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar are also part of the cast, which will only help to bolster the hype even more, as many viewers are already pumped for this prequel.
Joe Pantoliano And More Confirmed For Recurring Roles
According to the latest updates from Deadline, the recurring supporting cast for Dexter: Original Sin is filling out quite nicely as well. One of the most notable additions to the supporting cast is industry vet, Joe Pantoliano. Pantoliano is one of those versatile actors in Hollywood that you can put in anything.
Whether it’s a mob series like The Sopranos, or something futuristic like The Matrix franchise, Joe Pantoliano is always in his element. This time around with Original Sin, Pantoliano will play a character by the name of Mad Dog.
Other notable supporting actors added to this prequel series include Brittany Allen (The Boys), Randy Gonzalez (Bloodline), Aaron Jennings (Pure Genius), and more.
Production on Original Sin is currently underway in Miami, and many viewers can’t wait until the prequel officially premieres.
