‘Today’ Scarlett Johansson Calls Out Savannah Guthrie For Error
Scarlett Johansson was on Today this week and spoke to Savannah Guthrie about her next big performance. Johansson will star in the next Jurassic World movie, and Savannah had a special guest show up in a prerecorded video for the actress. This was Jeff Goldblum, and after Savannah tried to quote the original movie, she botched the line.
Here is how Scarlett reacted to the botched line and what you need to know about the new Jurassic World movie.
Scarlett Johansson Calls Out Savannah Guthrie On Botched Quote
Scarlett Johansson was on Today this week, and she talked to Savannah Guthrie about her upcoming role. Johansson will appear in the next installment of the Jurassic World franchise. As a result, Today got Jeff Goldblum, who starred in several of the franchise’s movies, to send in a message.
Goldblum, who played Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park and its sequels, repurposed a line from the movies by using Scarlett’s name. He said, “This I know, Scarlett will find a way.” The line really excited Johansson and she seemed very happy to get the personal message from Goldblum.
They both also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Johansson as Black Widow and Goldblum as The Grandmaster).
When they came back, Savannah tried to pull out a line of her own to show her Jurassic Park knowledge. However, she said, “Water finds a way.’ It’s an iconic line from the movie!” However, Scarlett had to correct the host. “Life finds a way,” Scarlett told her, after which Guthrie realized her mistake.
Fans Wondered Why Savannah Guthrie Got The Line Wrong
Fans quickly moved online to find out what Savannah Guthrie was thinking when she said, “Water finds a way.” It makes no sense when said that way, and most fans had no idea where that even came from.
After the comment, many fans started questioning the mistake:
- “Where did she get ‘Water finds a way’ from?”
- “Water finds a way” just sums her up to be honest. Based Scarlett for correcting her.”
- “What the heck is water finds a way?”
- “Water, ugh, finds a way.” doesn’t sound as iconic.
While there was no explanation by Guthrie, who simply owned the mistake and moved on, many fans were wondering where it came from. The most likely excuse is that Guthrie was mixing up the Jurassic Park franchise with that of Avatar, where the water finding a way actually makes sense based on the second movie’s plot.
The next Jurassic World movie comes out on July 2, 2025, and has a new director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) with a script by David Koepp, who co-wrote the first Jurassic Park movie.
