Kourtney Kardashian Shares Shocking Experience With Simon

Apparently, the two best friends don’t know everything about each other. In a recent episode of The Kardashians, Simon asked Kourtney, “What’s a crazy fact about you that I don’t know?”

The pair were in Target and Kourtney Kardashian was lounging in a shopping cart. She was there to promote the launch of her Lemme supplements in the store. Considering her friend’s interview question for a moment, Kourtney responded, “I was stung by a scorpion. Did you know that?”

Simon looked surprised and said, “No! When?”

Kourtney then told her friend about the traumatic experience. “In college, I was cleaning my bikini bottoms that were hanging in the shower and a scorpion was in there. And it stung my finger,” she said. “It was traumatizing.”

The Kardashians star earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1998. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Later on in her college career, she transferred to the University of Arizona. She graduated from U of A in 2022 and majored in theater arts.

What Kind Of Scorpion Stung Kourtney?

Scorpions can be found in both states where she attended college and Arizona is actually home to the only North American scorpion that is considered to be dangerous to humans, the bark scorpion.

“There are other scorpion species in the Southwest that can sting you, causing pain, skin irritation or swelling,” the University of Arizona shared. Only the bark scorpion can cause severe symptoms. Kourtney Kardashian didn’t provide any details on the type of scorpion that stung her.

However, it was serious enough that Kourtney had to head to the hospital. “If you’re allergic to a scorpion, they inject you with goat’s blood,” she told Simon, which is almost true. The blood of goats and other animals is often used to create anti-venom.

“An animal, such as a horse or goat, is injected with a small amount of venom. The antibodies released by the animal’s immune system to fight the damaging venom are later harvested via bleeding,” the Smithsonian has explained. “The blood serum or plasma is then concentrated and purified into pharmaceutical-grade antivenom.”

According to the Poison Control Centers in Arizona, about 20,000 calls are received every year in regard to scorpion stings. The number of people stung by scorpions each year is much higher, but most stings don’t require medical care.

New episodes of The Kardashians are released at midnight EST on Hulu.
