Kaitlyn Bristowe Shares The Truth Behind Jason Tartick Breakup
Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe had recently ended her engagement to her final rose winner Shawn Booth when she met Jason Tartick in 2018. They met while taping an episode of her Off the Vine podcast and made their relationship public a few months later.
Jason popped the question in 2021 while recording another episode of the podcast. The couple was engaged for two years before confirming the end of their relationship in 2023. Kaitlyn Bristowe shared more insight this week on what caused the end of the engagement. Keep reading to find out the truth behind the breakup.
She Blames Social Media
Kaitlyn Bristowe has made several shady social media posts and interviews hinting at why she ended her engagement to Jason Tartick. But she got truly candid during an appearance on Kristin Cavallari‘s Let’s Be Honest podcast this week.
According to Kaitlyn Bristowe, social media played a large role in the demise of the relationship. She said that everything between them began to feel “performative,” per Life & Style. Kaitlyn previously called her ex out for using their breakup for clout.
“I think we got lost in social media. I think we got lost in being engaged and thinking the next step was obviously marriage, but I wasn’t fully leaning in.”

The Dancing With The Stars champ didn’t deny that she was partly to blame for the end of the engagement. She said, “That’s partly my fault too. In that moment, I was like this is unfair to him, this is unfair to me and then it was probably six months later that we ended up breaking up.”
They didn’t announce their breakup until August 2023 but the truth is the breakup happened two months earlier in June. Kaitlyn and Jason took their time dealing with the split privately before going public with the news. They have both moved on with other people.
Jason is dating TikTok star Kat Stickler. Kaitlyn is rumored to be dating Zac Clark. She explained a bit her reluctance to go public with the alleged romance.
“I’m like I’m not introducing you [on social media] until I know that you’re the right one. I just feel like two very public failed engagements, I’m like, I can’t do this again.”
