‘Bridgerton’ Star Jonathan Bailey Once Starred On Disney Channel

Each Bridgerton actor had a handful of other roles before landing their spot on the sensational Netflix period drama. But many viewers hadn’t quite realized that Jonathan Bailey once had a starring role on Disney Channel.
The series didn’t last for long. But now, Bailey’s fans are having a lot of fun looking up clips of his days with Disney.
Jonathan Bailey Once Worked For The Mouse
Today, Netflix subscribers love and adore Jonathan Bailey as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. But a decade ago, he played a very different role.

Disney Channel fans in the United States likely haven’t heard of Groove High. But many viewers in the UK, France, and several other Western European countries remember the short-lived series that aired from 2012-2013.
The show followed two pop stars on tour as they reflected on the good old days at their performing arts school, Groove High. Jonathan Bailey played Tom Mason while Samantha Barks played his counterpart, Zoe Myer. Groove High had 26 episodes and was canceled after one season.

But nevertheless, the series lives on in Jonathan Bailey’s memory.
“I’ve known Sam for a few years,” Bailey admitted during an appearance on Graham Norton’s BBC Radio 2 show. “[Groove High] was our first collab … and essentially we got cast when I was about 21 and [Samantha] was about 19. We got around to filming the live-action — because it was half live-action and half cartoon — when I was about 25 playing [a] 14-year-old, but it was an extraordinary experience.”

Will Lord Bridgerton Return In Season 4?
The Viscount and his romantic interest Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) were the leads in Season 2. They appeared here and there throughout Season 3, as new leads took over. The characters announced they were expecting a baby together before leaving for India so Kate could give birth in her home country.
According to showrunners, this was a deliberate move.
“I think the strength of sending them off to India for a little while is that it does leave the door open for them to come back, schedules allowing,” Jess Brownell shared in an interview with Teen Vogue. “I think, understandably, when any of our lead actors have given over their lives for their season, in future seasons, we want to be supportive of the fact that they do have other projects coming in, and to ask actors to come back just to be in the background is not really fair to them.”
Bailey will also star in the upcoming Wicked film as the male lead, Fiyero. Fans who didn’t get a chance to hear him sing in Groove High certainly can when Wicked hits theaters this fall.
