‘Mama June’ Preview Shows Alana’s ‘Biggest Fear’ Come True
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson opens up about one of her biggest fears in a preview of Mama June: Family Crisis. As her sister Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s health continues to decline, Alana gets a call from Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid that she’s been terrified to receive. Keep reading to see what Alana’s biggest fear is and what viewers can expect on tonight’s episode.
Pumpkin Calls Alana With Bad News About Anna
A preview of the June 28 episode of Mama June: Family Crisis shows Pumpkin calling Alana to talk to her about Anna’s condition. Alana has already taken off to Colorado to attend college and is preparing for her final exams. However, when she gets a call from Pumpkin she realizes that her biggest fears have come true.
Pumpkin informs her sister that Anna Cardwell’s health has taken a turn for the worse and that they’ve called in hospice care. “Anna’s really not looking all that well,” Pumpkin tells Alana over the phone in the preview. “She has now decided that she’s done with radiation, and then she’s also now on hospice because that’s what she asked [Mama June Shannon for].”
Alana seems shocked by the news. She asks Pumpkin, “She’s really that bad? Why didn’t someone call me before now?”
Apparently, the family decided to wait to alert Honey Boo Boo to what was happened with Anna so that she could focus on school. She tells Pumpkin, “I was like, I don’t want to go to Colorado and then it just gets progressively bad.” Alana then tells the cameras that Anna encouraged her to go to school and follow all of her dreams.
“She was like, ‘Go out there, don’t let me stop you.’ And like, that’s what I did, because that’s what Anna wanted me to do,” she said in an interview. “But it’s like, I just knew when I went to Colorado that things were going to get really bad and things were going to progress really fastly.”
Mama June Preview Shows Alana Coming Home From College
In the preview, Alana opens up about how she feels stressed out about Anna’s condition and finals. She is battling with deciding whether or not she should go home or focus on her exams.
During their conversation, Pumpkin asks if Alana can come home sooner. The family plans to throw a Christmas party so that they can celebrate with Anna before it’s too late.
“I guess I can try to get on a flight. I mean, I have a lot of exams this week. Let me see if I can take my exams sooner,” Alana responds. “Now I’ve got even more stuff to stress about.”
Pumpkin offers to email Alana’s professors about what’s going on, but Alana says that she’ll handle everything. Considering her options, she says that the worst-case scenario would be marking the semester as “incomplete.”
Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell died on December 9, 2023, after months of battling stage 4 adrenal carcinoma.
