He also played his One Life To Live character, John McBain, on GH after OLTL was canceled. However, a despite between the network and Prospect Park, the company that was behind OLTL and All My Children’s brief online resurrections.

His character of Finn seemed to be floundering in recent months as the writers didn’t seem to know what to do to him. His addiction problems resurfaced, leading to a split from Elizabeth Webber (played by Rebecca Herbst.)

Rumors have been swirling for weeks that the actor was leaving the show. He officially announced his departure in a social media video posted on June 26.

He addressed fans in an emotional video to inform them that he had filmed his last episode on GH.

“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better. So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”

“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he continued before thanking the cast and crew he worked with for the last decade. But Michael Easton saved his most heartfelt thanks for fans.

What Will Happen To Finn?

“Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”

He didn’t share when his final scenes will air or the reason for the departure. The news comes just one day after the surprising announcement that Lucky Spencer – AKA Elizabeth’s first love and father of her children – will return this summer with original actor Jonathan Jackson resuming the role.

As for what happens to Finn, that’s anyone’s guess at the moment. There are rumors of a murder mystery involving Ava, which could lead to Finn’s death. Or he could simply leave town.

  1. I loved him and Violet, it’s a shame they are letting him go. He is a great actor just not given the right parts. I agree Elizabeth was not the right partner for him, she’s too wishy washy. Alexis would have been alot better
