Judith Chapman Dishes On Days Of Our Lives Return
Judith Chapman is familiar to soap viewers. She’s appeared on almost every soap, including her most memorable role as Gloria on The Young & The Restless.
Long-time Days Of Our Lives fans might recognize her as Anjelica Deveraux, a role she played from 1989 until 1991. She reprised the role for a dream sequence in 2018.
The next year, the actress returned to the soap, but not as Anjelica. She played Diana Cooper until the character was sent to jail for killing Marlena. However, Marlena isn’t dead and is currently providing therapy to Diana’s son, Leo (Greg Rikaart.)
In the course of their therapy sessions, Dr. Marlena Evans suggests that Leo visit his mother in prison. Judith Chapman is only scheduled to appear for one episode this month, but her appearance could send shockwaves through Salem.
Fans are speculating online that Diana could spill to her son that John (Drake Hogestyn) actually is his father after previously denying it. But fans will have to tune in to see if the rumors are true.
Actress Dishes On Playing Diana
Judith Chapman chatted with Soap Opera Digest about her surprise return to the show. She shared that the soap reached out to her to offer her a brief return. She jumped at the chance and was particularly happy to share scenes with Greg Rikaart, who played her son, Kevin, on Y&R.
The actress revealed that it was her idea to go make-up-free in her scenes, considering Diana is currently in prison.
“I told them that I don’t want my hair all done up, I don’t want false eyelashes, and I don’t want lots of makeup. I may look like the devil and I may cringe when I see myself but she’s in jail not a spa, so this isn’t some glam thing.”
Judith Chapman kept her return a secret for months. Unlike most soaps, Days Of Our Lives films six months in advance. She told SOD that the show’s musical coordinator recently reached out when adding music to the scene to share his praise. The long-time soap star said she might submit for a Daytime Emmy if the scenes are as good as she’s been told.
Is She Open To Returning Again?
Days Of Our Lives has a lot of comings and goings this summer. The soap finally confirmed rumors of a Gabi Hernandez recast, and Nicole Walker will leave the canvas this summer.
Would Judith Chapman come back as Diana? She told SOD that the door was always open for her return.
“My phone works, not that I’m hustling and looking for jobs but if DAYS were to call, I’d go back with pleasure. I love the work.”
Her scenes with Leo are expected to air on the episode airing on Tuesday, June 25.
