Days of Our Lives teased the hiring of two new actors on social media in April. But they kept mum about what roles the two were playing. Many fans guessed that one of them was a recast Gabi Hernandez. The soap finally confirmed the rumors. Who will be playing Gabi and when will the new actress begin airing on DOOL? Keep reading for all the details.

Cherie Jimenez Takes Over As Gabi

Camila Banus is the Gabi Hernandez that fans know and love to hate. However, she wasn’t the first actress to play the role. Banus replaced Gabriela Rodriguez in the role in 2010. She played the role of the anti-heroine on and off for over a decade. Banus officially left the show in 2023 and her recent social media activity hinted that she had no desire to return.

Gabi was sent to prison for the murder of Li Shin (Remington Hoffman,) but is actually innocent. Her brother, Rafe (Galen Gering,) has been tirelessly trying to prove his sister’s innocence and get her released from prison.

In addition to Rafe, the Hernandez family includes the late Arianna (Lindsay Hartley) and Dario (last played by Jordi Vilasuso.)

Actress Cherie Jimenez takes over the role of Gabi. Her previous acting credits include Pretty Little Liars and NCIS. Some fans speculate that the other actor, Al Calderon, is a recast Dario.

According to Deadline, Cherie Jimenez will make her first appearance on DOOL on Thursday, June 27. Viewers can get their first glimpse of Jimenez as Gabi in the promo for next week. She gets a surprise prison visit from Jake (Brandon Barash.)
