Kristen Doute Reveals Why She Turned Down ‘Bachelor’ Role
Kristen Doute recently revealed she once had the opportunity to join The Bachelor as a contestant. Why did she turn it down? Keep reading for her explanation.
Bachelor Nation Star Appears On Bravo’s The Valley
Bravoholics and Bachelor Nation are two of the most popular reality TV fandoms. Vanderpump Rules and the Bachelor franchise are among the longest-running reality TV shows, so it’s not a surprise that sometimes the two intertwine.
Viewers of Bravo’s latest reality sensation, The Valley, may recognize one of the cast members. The show features former VPR stars Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute, among several Bravo newbies. It also stars Jasmine Goode.
She was a contestant on Season 21 of The Bachelor but didn’t find love with Nick Viall. She also briefly worked at SUR, the bar Vanderpump Rules is centered around. Jasmine later came out as bisexual. It turns out that another Bravolebrity was almost a Bachelor Nation star first.
Kristen Doute Reveals Why She Turned Down Bachelor Role
Kristen Doute was one of the original cast members of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules. She was fired by Bravo in 2020 along with Stassi Schroeder for allegedly racist behavior toward former co-star, Faith Stowers. However, the network re-hired Kristen Doute for The Valley.
On a recent episode of her podcast, Kristen Doute revealed that she was almost on The Bachelor instead. She claimed that she was approached by the producers to join the show as a contestant years before Vanderpump Rules premiered in 2013.
However, she had to say no. She told Bachelor Nation alum and podcast guest Joe Amabile that she had just started dating Tom Sandoval at the time and wanted to see where that relationship went instead of joining a dating show.
Kristen Doute began dating Tom Sandoval in 2007. Brad Womack was The Bachelor (for the first time) that year.
Tom and Kristen broke up after filming the first two seasons of VPR when her affair with Jax Taylor was exposed. Tom went on to date co-star Ariana Madix for nine years but famously cheated on her in the #scandoval that captured the nation’s attention in 2023.
Kristen Doute seemed surprised to find out from Joe Amabile that the contestants on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette don’t get paid to film the reality show, only the leads do.
