‘Young And Restless’ Kate Linder Shares Details About Double Life

Surprised Fan Recognizes Kate Linder At The Airport
At the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards last week, Kate spoke with People about her second job. She works as a flight attendant with United Airlines.
The soap star described her experience as a flight attendant as “crazy” and “amazing” at the same time.
She told the publication about a recent interaction she had with a fan of The Young And The Restless during an especially long layover. The person approached Kate in disbelief.
“She looked at me and she said, ‘Kate Linder?’ And I went, ‘Yeah.’ She goes, ‘No, you’re not.’ I go, ‘I was when I woke up, so I don’t know [if] something’s wrong,'” the Y&R star recalled. Then the fan proceeded to ask her why she was wearing her flight attendant uniform.
“So anyway, she had had all these things happen [due] to bad weather,” Kate continued. “She got diverted. She was in LA. She wasn’t even supposed to be there. All these things happened.” However, the fan was thrilled because she realized that if all of these unfortunate events hadn’t happened she wouldn’t have gotten to meet Kate Linder.
Her Second Job Keeps Her ‘Humble’
The Young And The Restless star explained how her schedule with her two jobs typically works. Usually, Kate works weekends with United Airlines. Sometimes she has to change her schedule based on what is needed on the set of the beloved soap opera.
In those situations, Kate Linder revealed she works with other flight attendants to switch shifts. “Some will pick up my trips or then I’ll pick up something,” she shared with People. The Y&R star also shared details about her favorite routes, which include Denver, San Francisco, and Hawaii.
“Denver turns, San Francisco turns, even Hawaii turns so that if I have something that night, I can still make it and still do it,” she said. Her favorite part of her second job is getting to meet fans in real life.
“I get to hear what they like and I see in their eyes how happy they are. They get to tell me about how they watch Young and the Restless, and I think that’s just really great. I so enjoy that,” she shared. Sometimes interacting with fans can become a lengthy affair, which can be challenging to balance with her flight attendant duties, but Kate Linder says she makes sure everyone is taken care of and happy on their flight.
Kate also spoke about when she first started working as a flight attendant. She said that initially, the job gave her enough time off to pursue her acting career. Then when she realized she could do both, she continued to do both. She says that her job with United Airlines keeps her humble.
