Amber Portwood Finds Unlikely Support After Fiance Vanishes

Amber Portwood’s Fiance Vanishes
Amber Portwood finally found love again earlier this year after a very public previous romance. MTV viewers had a front-row seat to her tumultuous romance with Gary Shirley throughout her pregnancy on 16 and Pregnant and later, Teen Mom. He popped the question before they welcomed their daughter, Leah, but the couple split in 2011 without ever marrying.
She confirmed her relationship with another Gary, Gary Wayt, in January 2024. According to People magazine, they met on a dating app and he made his Teen Mom: Next Chapter debut earlier this month.
Wayt reportedly proposed in real life around the time the episode aired. The couple recently celebrated with family. Then her fiance mysteriously vanished.
He was reported missing on Tuesday, June 11. He was last seen in North Carolina.
Teen Mom Family Rallies Around Her
Amber Portwood is understandably concerned about her missing fiance. She is also concerned that the public thinks she had something to do with his disappearance.
But she denied any wrongdoing in a YouTube live stream. According to Us Weekly, Portwood said she is sick with worry and hasn’t been able to sleep or eat.
While Teen Mom fans cast doubt on Amber Portwood’s concern, she has the support of at least one person. Sources told the outlet that one of her co-stars, Maci Bookout, is on the way to North Carolina to be with Portwood.
“Amber is alone and it’s a difficult situation that she’s been dealing with on her own for the last few days — and she really needs a friend.”
Portwood and Bookout have been friends for nearly two decades. They met as teenage girls on 16 and Pregnant and have remained friends through Teen Mom and its various iterations.
But Maci Bookout isn’t the only one supporting Amber Portwood. While she may feel alone right now, her ex-boyfriend, Gary Shirley, showed his support.
He posted on his social media about his ex’s missing fiance, encouraging followers to keep an eye out and offering “prayers” for the other Gary’s “safe return.”
Hopefully, Gary Wayt will be found soon.
