‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Does Chris Combs Wear Padding On The Show?

Since Chris Combs started regularly appearing on 1000-Lb Sisters, he’s grown wildly popular with fans. He’s generally the voice of reason among his four chaotic sisters and is always there to lift others up when they need him. Although Tammy Slaton and Amy Halterman were the focus when the series launched, fans seem more invested in Chris’ journey these days.

The family’s weight loss journey might be real, but 1000-Lb Sisters fans have started wondering if TLC is using some tricks to enhance the storylines as they film.

Is it possible that Chris Combs and his sisters occasionally wear padding to make them look larger than they are?

Chris Combs Looks Like A Completely Different Person

When fans last saw Chris on the show, he was working toward skin removal surgery. Some of his sisters admitted to struggling with their weight loss goals, but Chris is practically unstoppable.

Fans have certainly noticed. He’s much smaller than he was during his debut on the show. But some fans have noticed that Chris still appears larger in certain scenes, despite the weight loss. Is TLC asking him to wear pads?

“Chris is looking good!” a Redditor shared on the platform. “I guess he’s padded on the show after all.”

The OP attached a photo of Chris from January 2022 at his grandson’s birthday party.

Other Redditors had mixed opinions. Since the photo is older and TLC films so far in advance, it’s hard to piece together an exact timeline for his weight loss journey.

1000-Lb Sisters is a reality show, but networks also use filming tricks and staging techniques to benefit the story’s narrative. For example, TLC often uses unflattering camera angles on shows like 1000-Lb Sisters and My 600-Lb Life to make subjects appear bigger than they actually are.

It might not be totally outside the realm of possibility that they asked Chris Combs to wear padding during certain parts of filming.

Other Redditors React To The OP’s Post

In a nutshell, it seemed like other Reddit users weren’t quite sure what to think. They shared comments including:

  • You realize the show is running like months to a year behind real life? He’s not ‘padded’ on the show, you’re just seeing the difference between the time differences.”
  • I’m confused…shouldn’t he have lost more weight by now? It’s been years since his procedure, right?”
  • I don’t think he is wearing fat padding for the show”

One Reddit user even seemed to believe Chris is further along in his health journey than the public realizes. They wrote, “He just had his skin removal surgery within the last couple of weeks.”

If that’s true, that will almost certainly be a storyline when 1000-Lb Sisters returns. TLC will almost certainly give the show another season, but fans are still waiting for specific details about new episodes.
