‘DWTS’ Will Derek Hough’s Wife Be A Pro Dancer This Fall?
Derek Hough will return as a judge when Dancing With The Stars comes to ABC this fall. But could his talented wife Hayley Erbert be coming with him?
It’s not uncommon for pro dancers to compete against their spouses in the competition. Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov faced off against each other in the Season 32 finale. But fans haven’t seen a judge critique their spouse on the show.
Even so, there are plenty of people who would love to see Hayley Erbert have a spot as a pro dancer. Read on to learn more.
Hayley Erbert & Derek Hough Have Had A Tumultuous Year
By now, most DWTS fans are aware that Hayley Erbert Hough had a serious health issue back in December. She and Derek were performing on their Symphony of Dance tour when she required emergency medical attention.
Hayley suffered a cranial hematoma and required surgery right away. Half a year later, she is dancing once again.
Hayley’s dedication to dance and her unwavering resilience are exactly why fans think she would be a perfect choice as a pro dancer.
“Hayley is dancing again, too, and it was so moving to see her. She looks incredible. And I want to say both of them have a different emotional aspect to their dancing because of, obviously, the big life changing event that they went through,” DWTS expert Krystin Burtt shared in a May episode of Cheryl Burke’s podcast, Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans.
In the past, plenty of other DWTS fans expressed their desire to see Hayley compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. However, with her husband Derek’s role as a judge, it could be a conflict of interest. But even so, Burtt thinks Hayley Erbert has earned her place in the competition.

“She’s earned it. If she wants it, she’s earned it,” Burtt shared in the interview, detailing Hayley’s performances during the rescheduled Symphony of Dance shows. “If she wants it, I would love to see that opportunity there for her. I know she’s still kind of working her way back. She didn’t do every single number, which is smart, you know, pacing yourself.”
Hayley Erbert Has A Lengthy Dance History
Today, Hayley Erbert Hough is well-known for performing alongside her husband, Derek Hough. The pair have performed on DWTS together in the past and she’s a focal part of his tours.
But many also remember Hayley from her time on So You Think You Can Dance. She competed in Season 10, which is the same season that produced DWTS pros Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy and Alan Bersten.
