Bringing Up Bates: Carlin Bates Shares Adorable Interaction Of Zade & Grandparents
In an IG Stories post, Carlin shared Zade’s heartwarming moment with his great-grandparents, Mama Jane and Papa Bill. Zade gave flowers to Mama Jane, making her more lively. The Bringing Up Bates star even had some chats with Carlin regarding the Bates Sisters Boutique as it celebrates its 5th birthday.
Moments later, Carlin uploaded a sweet photo of Papa Bill holding his great-grandson. But what caught the attention of many was when the ninth Bates child began talking to Papa Bill, who seemingly forgot who they were.
Fans Worry About Papa Bill’s Condition
Some Bringing Up Bates fans on Reddit discussed Carlin’s latest interaction with her grandfather, Papa Bill. According to some, it breaks their hearts to see Papa Bill becoming more forgetful. Others also speculated that he may be suffering from either dementia or Alzheimer’s due to the symptoms he’s showing. However, Lydia confirmed that Papa Bill is indeed suffering from dementia. Another Reddit user also recalled that Papa Bill remembered Carlin and her kids so well a few days ago, before asking who Zade was in their latest bonding time.
- “Bill definitely has some form of a mental incapacity. More than likely either dementia or Alzheimer’s. Because 2 days ago he asked again who Zade was and Carlin said “this is Zade. And he’s 2. But your Jane Jane calls him Patrick because that’s his middle name. And this is Layla. My oldest, and she’s 4.” I think he’s getting worse which is why all the grandkids are going to see him at different times because he’s probably not got much left in him.”

The Bringing Up Bates star didn’t exactly share their illness. But many believe that their age is starting to take a toll on their health.
Alyssa Bates Webster was also commended for her efforts, such as cleaning up the entire house of Mama Jane and Papa Bill. She also cooked meals for them and made sure they were back to full strength before going back to her family.
