Kelsea Ballerini 2024 CMT Awards Performance Taped Ahead, Why?
The 2024 CMT Music Awards will take place live from Austin, Texas on Sunday, April 7. However, not everything from the upcoming ceremony will be in real-time, including Kelsea Ballerini’s performance. So, why is that the case?
The 2024 CMT Music Awards Will Be Live From Texas
The 2024 CMT Music Awards are set to take place from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. All of country music’s biggest names will be on hand for one of the biggest nights in country music. By the end of the night, those big names will also have some hardware to add to their collection.
All of the stars will come out in boots and cowboy hats looking their best. There will also be a lot of big performances to look forward to on the big night. Some of these include the return to the stage of Jason Aldean. He will be performing a year after CMT removed his controversial single, Try That In A Small Town, from their rotation.
It may not be all water under the bridge for Aldean, but, fences seem to be mended enough that he is willing to take the stage and perform.
Kelsea Ballerini Will Host The 2024 CMT Music Awards
Kelsea Ballerini will once again take up the mantle as host this year at the CMT Music Awards. It’s not the first time that the country star has taken on this role, but, it will be the first time for her to host the event solo. In previous years, she had co-hosts to help her, but this year, everything will be on Ballerini’s shoulders.
Kelsea Ballerini spoke in February on what it means to her to have the honor of hosting country’s big night. She said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be back for my 4th year with my CMT family to host this year’s CMT Music Awards in Austin, TX. Hosting an awards show that celebrates the music that the fans love most has been an honor and I know this year will be another unforgettable night.”

Kelsea Ballerini’s 2024 Performance Was Pre-Recorded, Why?
Kelsea Ballerini is one of the performers at this year’s 2024 CMT Music Awards, but, with a twist. Ballerini’s performance was pre-recorded prior to the event, so, it won’t be live. Ballerini told her followers a few days ahead of the big night that she taped her performance ahead. She did this because she is also hosting, and hosting solo to boot.
This certainly makes sense. It would be one thing if she had a co-host, as has been the case with previous years. Since Ballerini is taking on full hosting duties this year without anyone to back her up, it would be a logistical struggle to both host and perform at the same time. Luckily, Ballerini assured her fans that even though her performance was taped ahead, in her words, “the rest is live, babyyy.”
