Jason Tartick’s new book delves into the reason his engagement to Kaitlyn Bristowe ended, including the red flags he may have ignored. Keep reading to find out the latest on what ended Jason and Kaitlyn’s four-year relationship.

Jason Tartick Says ‘Chapter Closed’ On Kaitlyn Bristowe Relationship

Jason Tartick and Kaitlyn Bristowe got engaged in 2021 after two years of dating. However, they seemed to drag their feet when it came to wedding planning. Rumors circulated in mid-2023 that they had quietly ended their relationship. In a new piece on Jason’s second book release, PEOPLE magazine wrote that it’s been nine months since the end of the engagement. However, the couple didn’t officially announce it until August 2023, meaning the earlier rumors were right.

The former banker’s new financial advice book came out this week. He uses his relationship with the Dancing With The Stars winner in Talk Money to Me: The 8 Essential Financial Questions to Discuss With Your Partner. However, he told PEOPLE that that chapter of his life has closed.

Jason added, “It closed for a reason that was right for her, and it closed for a reason that’s right for me.” He didn’t specifically address those reasons but heavily implied that it had to do with finances.

“Before you cohabitate, you have to have the conversations as it relates to credit, inflows, outflows, understanding debt-to-income, understanding net worth, what retirement goals are, risk tolerance, etc,” he advised readers of the book. That’s something he and Kaitlyn never discussed before he moved into her Nashville home.

Ignored Red Flags

“The adrenaline of a new relationship is the best thing in the world,” Jason explained about why he overlooked discussing money early in their relationship. In fact, he said that many people ignore financial red flags. “If you hear a red flag in finances, I want you to stop and actually start clapping because you heard the red flag,” Jason encouraged.

He added that “Everyone buries the red flag,” again alluding to his failed engagement to Kaitlyn Bristowe.

His Dating Dealbreaker

Jason Tartick has clearly learned a few lessons from the breakup. He played coy about rumors he’s dating social media influencer Kat Stickler. He said that talking about his dating life after such a public breakup scares him. But he doesn’t seem to have any reservations about publicly discussing his split from his ex-fiance.

The Bachelorette alum told the outlet that his one deal breaker is financial infidelity. “If you’re deceiving and lying through finances, to me, that’s going to tell me what else you might be deceiving and lying [about],” the Trading Secrets podcast host said.
