Will Kevin Costner Reappear In ‘Yellowstone’ Final Season?
After departing from the show before its final season, Kevin Costner now says he would be willing to return to Yellowstone to provide closure for the character John Dutton. He chose to leave the show after a dispute regarding his availability and salary demands with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. There is speculation as to whether or not Sheridan would alter his script to include Costner this late in production. However, it is clear fans want more of John Dutton. So, what will happen? What Happened In The Latest Season Of Yellowstone?
There have been rumors that Kevin Costner would be leaving the show since May 2023. By November, those rumors were confirmed. Despite being such an integral part of the storyline, John Dutton would cease to exist in the final season.
Fans have been in an uproar over the development. Season 5, Part 1 left viewers with a huge cliffhanger that hinted at Dutton’s political downfall. Kevin Costner’s decision not to return left the storyline up in the air. Many people are wondering how things will be tied up without John Dutton’s character. It seems impossible and, at the very least, unsatisfactory.

What is expected to happen is that John Dutton’s impeachment trial will happen off-screen. For fans, this would be massively disappointing.
Now, Kevin Costner says that he is willing to give up a little on his demands and return to Yellowstone.
Kevin Costner Says He’s Willing To Return To Yellowstone
The Hollywood veteran has come forward and said that he would like to come back to Yellowstone to send off John Dutton’s character. At the very least, Costner has said that he is open to making a cameo appearance to wrap up the storyline within the show. That being said, the last season of the show has already been scripted and production is slated to start soon.

Right now, there are no ongoing discussions regarding Costner’s return. Additionally, it is not likely that Taylor Sheridan, the show’s creator, would be willing to revise the scripts he has already completed just to include Costner. The pair reportedly had a tough working relationship that ended in a feud over compensation and availability.
It is possible that Kevin Costner will use Yellowstone’s fanbase to his advantage. There is no doubt that long-time viewers of the show want to see John Dutton’s storyline completed, but it is not clear if Sheridan will take this into account or not.
For the fans’ sake, let’s hope the team at Paramount can come to a decision that works for everyone and provides fans with the ending to the show that they deserve for years of loyalty.
