The Summer Olympics Will Be Different This Year
American sportscaster Mike Tirico joined NFL icon Peyton Manning and American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson in announcing their involvement with the upcoming Summer Olympics. The three stars revealed that they would be hosting the Summer Olympics on NBC on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.
“It’s an honor to be able to announce for the first time anywhere,” Mike Tirico said to the live studio audience. “That this year at the Summer Olympics in Paris, the opening ceremony will be hosted by yours truly, Peyton Manning and Kelly Clarkson.”

The famed sportscaster also shared that fans should expect to see a different opening ceremony from anything they have ever seen before. “The opening ceremony is going to be so different and unique,” he said. “Down the Seine, down the river with the athletes on a boat. So it’s not the stadium where they walk in. It’ll incorporate Paris.”
As far as the hosts for the event go, Mike Tirico said that they hope Kelly Clarkson and Peyton Manning will bring something special to the event. “Our goal and desire is for Peyton and Kelly to be Peyton and Kelly. Just be who they are,” he stated on The Tonight Show.
Tirico also pointed out that while the Summer Olympics is technically a sports event, it is also a “cultural celebration.” He shared that he is excited to learn about the athletes’ stories and what got them where they are today.
Peyton Manning & Kelly Clarkson Are Excited About A New Challenge
Peyton Manning and Kelly Clarkson are both ready for the challenge of hosting the Olympics. While it is something completely new to them both, they have a few things in common. “Kelly and I are both fans of the athletes and the opening ceremony of years past,” The NFL Hall-of-Famer shared. “I think there’ll be a lot of emotions for these athletes.”

Manning continued, “I look forward to finding out those stories between now and July and maybe sharing that with the audience.”
During the show, Jimmy Fallon also shared that he would be hosting the closing ceremony for the Olympics this year. The four talked about what the experience would be like before Fallon joked about asking the president of France to “crash at his place.”
The Summer Olympics kick off in Paris on July 26, 2024. The game will air on NBC, but will also be available on Peacock, Hulu, Fubo TV, Sling TV, and a number of other streaming services.
