‘The View’ Joy Behar Retiring Soon, New Path In Life?
On The View‘s Behind The Table podcast, Joy Behar and Brian Teta discuss some exciting ventures on the horizon for Joy. While the discussion unfolds, seemingly fans wonder if Joy is getting ready to retire and move on to more lucrative passion projects. Notably, she encourages others to start new careers whenever they want to.
Joy Behar Encourages New Beginnings
While on The View‘s Behind The Table podcast, speaking with executive producer Brian Teta, Joy Behar talks about her new career goals. Undoubtedly, wanting to encourage others, she says, “People should understand that here I am at this age [81], and I’m now flourishing as a playwright. As a writer…you can start anytime you want.” Then attempting to be the voice she once needed, she adds, “I wish that people would understand this [and] I wish I had understood it because I didn’t. And I didn’t have anybody to tell me, ‘Joy, it doesn’t matter how old you are…'” Additionally, playing on that “age is just a number,” she pushes people to not let it limit them from starting a new life path at any point necessary.

On the weekend of November 3, 2023, Joy Behar saw the fruits of her journey in action. At that point, her comedy show, Bonkers in the Boroughs: Five Short Plays, premiered and was followed by three more showings. But not only did she write the plays, she also starred in them. Within the play, her role was Rose, a fierce lady from Queens, New York.
Alternate Career Path
After Joy Behar’s new career triumph, she was propelled toward a new arm of her writing talents. With a successful play under her belt, she is now making strides with writing a book. Reportedly, her publisher, Regalo Press, promises “acute powers of observation and her ability to vividly recreate the little details and fleeting moments that make up a lifetime.” Additionally, the book talks about her past, but not in an autobiographical way. However, the publisher also teases it will “please both longtime fans and newcomers alike.” Unmistakenly, Joy plans to focus on things she knows a lot about. For instance, the non-fiction book will include such topics as relatives, hair, erections, bullies, and romance. Seemingly, no one is safe, as she intends to target everyone, even herself, in the upcoming book.
Is Time Ticking For Joy Behar Hosting The View?
Furthermore, Joy Behar is always looking for more opportunities. Although the book will likely not be ready until late 2024 or 2025, fans can watch Joy on The View. However, rumors have circulated that Joy might be setting herself up for retirement from the show and taking a new life path. Without a doubt, this wouldn’t be the first time leaving the show. While she was on the show from 1997-2013, she was fired in 2013. Admittedly, she was happy to go at the time and said she was “sick of the show.” After a two-year hiatus, she rejoined and has remained since then. Seemingly, she is lining up plenty of passion projects. Perhaps she is considering retiring if she gets weary with the day-to-day of hosting.
While no one could blame the 81-year-old if she decides to stop hosting, right now she is staying. For now, Joy’s rep says she signed another three-year deal with ABC. Notably, this ties her to the network until at a minimum 2025.
Do you think Joy Behar is getting things in place to leave The View? Are you glad to see Joy trying new career paths? Do you appreciate her advice to start over whenever necessary? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
