‘Bachelor’ Joey Graziadei Applauds Lea’s Bravery With Secret Card
During the Monday night premiere of The Bachelor, Joey Graziadei faced a few new twists to the show. While he wasn’t alone, he recognizes the courage that it took for Lea Cayanan, 23, to go through one of the freshly introduced pieces. Both Joey and Lea met before the show when they became aware of a new element of a secret mystery card. After viewing the first episode, Joey applauds Lea for her bravery in handling the tricky situation.
Bachelor Nation Throws Some Twists
While Joey Graziadei is a familiar face for Bachelor Nation, even he got a few new hoops during the inaugural episode of this season’s Bachelor. Surprisingly, Jesse Palmer informs Joey he is making Bachelor history by having more contestants than they ever have before. Then, Joey meets the super-sized batch of thirty-two women who will be vying for his attention. But that wasn’t the only trick that Bachelor Nation had up their sleeve.

Joey Graziadei Gets A Sneak Peek
Additionally, Joey Graziadei had a sneak peek of one of the contestants following the After the Final Rose ceremony. At that point, he became the new Bachelor. Additionally, he and Lea Cayanan met. But that’s not all, she receives a mystery card that was to remain a secret until entering the mansion on the first night. At this point, she was allowed to unveil its contents. After arriving, she reveals that the card allows her to steal a one-on-one date from another woman at any point before hometowns. But she opts to throw the card into the fire to even the playing field.
Joey Graziadei Applauds Lea’s Decision
Given the difficulty of the situation, Joey Graziadei compliments Lea on the way she handles it. “Lea did a great job handling, I think a very tough situation,” Joey says. Then he discusses, “From the beginning of After the Final Rose, to be able to be put on live TV and be the first contestant named, there’s a lot of pressure that comes with that.” Additionally, he adds, “And then to also be handed a card that’s never been done before in the show, I don’t know how I would’ve handled that. I would’ve hoped I handled it with as much grace as she did.”
Joey Graziadei Rewards Lea Cayanan’s Grace
Although Lea Cayanan sacrificed her advantage of taking someone out of play or capturing an invaluable date with Joey Graziadei, she got a hefty consolation prize. After Joey saw the bravery that Lea initiated, he offered her the longed-for first impression rose. Joey says, “I think it showed a lot about her character and she did the best job she could.” Impressed by her gracious manner, Joey adds, “I could tell that it was making her emotional.” Then goes on, “I was very impressed by her character. It was a tough spot and I think that what that rose meant to me was not only telling her how impressed I was with her handling a difficult situation, but it was signifying that I want to learn more.”
Criticism For His Choice
But Bachelor, Joey Graziadei got some pushback from people saying she had an obvious advantage for the first impression. Then pointing out their meeting him before the show gave a leg up. However he assures, “I’m excited to actually get to know Lea.” Continuing, “And not just the person that had the card and had to deal with this situation.” Adding, “She wasn’t feeling great.” Then giving kudos, “And she did something that I know was tough to do.” Explaining, “And it was just the best way I could give her something that I think would mean a lot. So that was really what I was thinking at that time.”
