‘Swamp People’ Troy Landry Hunting New Dangerous ‘Wild Beast’
Swamp People star Troy Landy is used to hunting down beasts in Louisiana, but usually, they are alligators. He even had a huge goal in the latest season, where he wanted to score 100 alligators in just 24 hours during Louisian’s alligator season. However, he fell short thanks to a new dangerous “wild beast.”
However, Landry is not sure what this wild beast is and he has set traps to try to stop whatever is out in the swamps killing the alligators on Swamp People.
Troy Landry wanted to tag 100 alligators in one day
Troy Landry is one of the most successful hunters on Swamp People. Last season, he caught 350 alligator tags. He decided he wanted to go one step further this season with a brand-new challenge. He wanted to nab 100 alligators in one day over a single 24-hour period. However, he didn’t quite reach that goal and ended up with 80, thanks to the help of his fellow hunters.
What caused him to fall short wasn’t a tough alligator giving him problems, though. It was the fact that he couldn’t find any more alligators to catch. While out on the Bayou River, he realized a new “destructive enemy” was running loose. This meant that Troy had to figure out what was out there and set up a trap to stop it from destroying anything else.
Team Landry’s initial goal was catching 100 alligators in 24 hours. He wanted to end up with 900 by the end of the Swamp People hunting season and planned to get 50 all by himself in just one day. However, by the end of alligator season, Troy was not finished hunting – he just had a new prey. Something he said was “spooky” was in the river near his home. Feral hogs were destroying his property. Plus, there was a “wild beast” that he wasn’t sure the identity of out there wreaking havoc.
Landry now looking for a “wild beast” on Swamp People
Troy Landy said on Swamp People that alligators were going “missing” and he found a bank where he said it didn’t look like an alligator had been up there for 10 years. He said when there are a lot of alligators, they climb onto the banks to get sun. That hasn’t happened here, but it seems all the alligators in the area have disappeared.

Troy also said he had never seen anything like this. He also said this was a serious problem and he had to help out before whatever mysterious “beast” was out there destroyed a friend’s ranch. He isn’t sure if it is more feral hogs, or if there is something bigger and scarier out there. Troy has set the traps and now he waits for whatever is out there in the swamps.
Swamp People airs every Thursday on HISTORY at 9/8c.
