Christopher Briney Calls ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Story Stupid
Chris Briney, the star of Amazon Prime’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, recently voiced his opinion on the show and its storyline. Chris is also starring in the remake of Mean Girls which will premiere this week. Fans quickly fell in love with Briney and his character in TSITP, Conrad Fischer. What does he not enjoy about the fan-favorite show?
Chris Briney And His Role In ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’
Christopher Briney has been very popular since his starring role in the series. The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on a book series written by Jenny Han. Han also wrote the show on Amazon Prime, which has been a big hit among young audiences. The show takes place in Cousin’s Beach, where Lola Tung’s character, Belly, has a love triangle with two brothers. The two brothers in the series, Jeremiah and Conrad, fight for Belly’s love. Of course, the romance series became very popular, and girls became obsessed with Chris after seeing him play Conrad. Nonetheless, this led him to his upcoming role in the remake of Mean Girls. According to US Weekly, Chris enjoys the take on the remake.
“Nobody likes straight remakes. It’s not a direct adaptation either, which I appreciate, it keeps the same heart, but it exists on its own.”
Fans quickly agreed with him, as you can never beat the original.
Unrealistic Expectations
Although they are filming the third season of the Amazon Prime series, Chris Briney gave his opinion on the storyline.
“It’s all unreal expectations. It’s all ridiculous, you’re not going to go to Stanford, you’re not going to go to a beach town every summer and fall in love with your mom’s friend’s f—king whatever. It’s not going to happen. It’s stupid. That’s not how life works.”
However, he is not wrong about anything said, it shocked fans to see him feel this way about the beloved show. Viewers love the unreal expectations, and it makes it more enjoyable to watch, just like any romance story. Maybe that is all he meant by it.
It was very shocking to fans to hear his opinion. Now this does not mean he doesn’t enjoy the storyline and doing the show. It just means it sets expectations for young audiences that should not be expected to happen. What did you think about what he said? Are you excited to see his role in his upcoming movie?
