Gypsy Rose Blanchard Blames Pill Addiction For Mom’s Murder
When Gypsy Rose Blanchard had her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, kill her mother, Dee Dee, she had a reason behind it. Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen by Proxy in which her mother made her sick or was causing her to become ill. She had Gypsy go through unnecessary surgeries, shave her head, use a wheelchair, and more. Finally, Gypsy could no longer take it so she seemed to feel like her only way out was to kill her mother. That was where Nick came in. Gypsy was sentenced to ten years behind bars whereas Nick got life. In the end, Gypsy was paroled after serving eighty-five percent of her time.
Now, Gypsy is out and is speaking her truth for the first time. Not just what others are saying but from her own thirty-two-year-old mouth. According to People, she shared something on Good Morning America about why she wanted to kill her mother. More so, what she was going through during the time it popped into her mind. Gypsy was hooked on painkillers at the time, which was something she had a struggle sharing.
“This is really hard to talk about because it took me down a really dark path. But I felt like it was my only way to cope for a time,” she explained to Deborah Roberts. Though Gypsy Rose Blanchard was high when she decided to kill Dee Dee, she absolutely accepts the responsibility.
“I don’t blame drugs, I don’t blame anything. I don’t make excuses. I don’t believe my mother is a monster. She had a lot of demons. I didn’t want her dead, I just wanted out of my situation, and I thought that was the only way out.”
Clean & Sober
Now, married and free, Gypsy Rose Blanchard had been sober for four years. More so, she does not have the urge to which is even better. She met Ryan Scott Anderson in 2020 when he decided to write her a letter in prison. Though her father asked her to wait, the two tied the knot in 2022. She is now living with him in Louisiana and does want to have her own children. The hope is that Gypsy will not repeat the cycle after all that she went through.
