Bryan Abasolo Breaks Silence On Divorce From Rachel Lindsay
News broke on January 2 that a Bachelorette couple was ending their marriage. Shortly afterward, Bryan Abasolo posted a lengthy Instagram post explaining his reason for divorcing Rachel Lindsay. What did he say?
Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay’s Marriage Is Over
Rachel Lindsay thought she found lasting love on Season 13 of The Bachelorette. She was previously a contestant on Nick Viall‘s season of The Bachelor, coming in third place.
In 2017, she was named the franchise’s first Black female lead for The Bachelorette. Rachel got engaged to Bryan Abasolo, and the two married in an intimate wedding in Mexico in 2019.
Four years later, the marriage is done. Bryan filed the paperwork for divorce on January 2. The day of separation was listed as December 31, 2023.
Rachel did recently say they were living different lives but never mentioned the idea of divorce. What could have happened?
Her soon-to-be-ex-husband broke his silence, shedding some light on what went wrong.
Bryan Abasolo Breaks Silence On Divorce From Rachel Lindsay
It didn’t take long from the time the divorce news broke to Bryan addressing it on social media. He shared a statement on his Instagram to get ahead of “blogs making up their own reality.”
The statement of white text on a plain black background begins, “If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I don’t like to put my personal affairs on social media.”
“Many of you know me as a chiropractor, and also as a husband, my proudest role so far,” the statement continued.
“Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew,” he shared of the decision to divorce.
He mentioned that his parents have been married “forever,” and he considers himself a “family man.” However, “Sometimes loving yourself and your partner means letting go.”
He ended the lengthy post by asking for privacy. “Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps.”
While Bryan doesn’t give a direct cause for the split, it seems he thought it was the best option for both of them. He kept the comments turned off on the post.
Us Weekly reports that Rachel Lindsay discussed the “ups and downs” of her marriage just last month on Nick Viall’s podcast. “Marriage has ups and downs, but you never know when we’re good or when we’re not because we never put it out there,” she said about keeping her personal life off social media.
She has yet to address the divorce.
