Luckily, he found the motivation to turn his life around before it was too late. But his journey took an unexpected turn after he was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. Donald was determined to change his life and quickly followed Dr. Now’s weight loss regimens. He shed enough weight and got his gastric bypass surgery. The My 600-lb Life alum was able to drop over 285 pounds following his weight loss. His last reported weight was 390 lbs. However, he faced some setbacks during his journey, which ultimately brought his progress back to zero.

Donald Was Diagnosed With Life-Threatening Disorder

During his episode, Donald was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome. It’s a disorder where a person’s immune system attacks their nerves. It causes weakness and tingling in the hands and feet. Due to this, the My 600-lb Life alum lost his ability to walk and got stuck in a wheelchair, leading to his weight gain.

According to reports, he regained almost all the weight he lost during his program with Dr. Now, and many were saddened about what happened. Regardless, Donald Shelton still showed courage to pursue his physical goals. He left the show filled with positivity despite all the heartbreaking things that happened in his life.

My 600-lb Life: Donald Shelton’s Life After The Show

Aside from his health condition, Donald is also dealing with other problems in life off-camera. He previously set up a fundraiser to buy a new van for himself and his mother. According to the My 600-lb Life alum, the vehicle will be used to transport people with disabilities to their church. However, it’s been nearly two years since the program was launched, and it only got $1,230 in donations with a goal of $40,000.

Donald Shelton has yet to share his current weight. His relationship status remains a mystery as well. But he made it clear during the show that he’s prioritizing his health instead of looking for a partner. His last social media posts also show that he was able to make big progress on his weight loss journey despite his health problems. Unfortunately, his last updates were from 2016, and he hasn’t shared any photos of him since.
