In the wake of Mama June Shannon’s daughter Anna Cardwell passing away, fans have had a lot of questions. One of the bigger questions, however, is fairly simple. What will happen to her children? Mama June Shannon Takes Custody Of Daughter Anna’s Child?
As fans know, Anna Cardwell was the oldest of four sisters. Likewise, she was also the mother of two children. As TV Shows Ace reported recently, Anna spent the last few years of her life desperately trying to have another child. Unfortunately, she never got her wish before spending the last 10 months of her life fighting cancer. Sadly, Anna lost her battle with her cancer days ago. Now, fans are wondering what will happen to her two beautiful daughters.
According to TMZ, Mama June Shannon will be taking custody of one of Anna’s children. The outlet notes that Mama June has an extremely close relationship with her 11-year-old granddaughter Kaitlyn. Likewise, as her first grandchild, she shares a special bond with her. So, she has stepped in to take care of Kaitlyn in the wake of losing her mother.
Anna Cardwell’s 8-year-old Kylee, on the other hand, is currently living with her biological father, Michael. TMZ reports it was always the plan for Kylee to move in with her father if her mother should lose her battle with cancer.
Given her special bond with her grandmother, the entire family agreed Mama June was the best person to take care of Kaitlyn. Likewise, Mama June Shannon does plan to petition the court to be her official legal guardian.

Fans Have Mixed Feelings
On Reddit, fans are not giving a thumbs up to the current situation. Everything about it has them upset. For starters, Mama June Shannon was not capable of raising any of her children. Alana, for example, was raised by her sister Pumpkin. So, fans are questioning why anyone would put another child in Mama June’s care. Furthermore, fans question if this was what Anna wanted given her strained relationship with her mother.
Unfortunately, fans are also worried Mama June Shannon just says Anna Cardwell’s daughter as a paycheck. Here’s some of what fans are saying over on Reddit about this bombshell:
- “How the actual h*ll does this even happen. She couldn’t take care of Alana, how’s she supposed to take care of thos girl? I think she’s only doing it to get money out of the situation. I’m glad to hear both Michael and Eldrige will continue to be in both girls lives, but hot damn.”
- “And so it begins… this was her plan from the moment she found out her own daughter was dying. She gets custody, she gets legality over all finances from that point on. This is the same woman that sold everything in her house, including a lot of her kids stuff, to support her drug addiction.”
- “I really hate that these sisters are going to be split up”
Many fans added they also hated the idea of these sisters getting split up after their mother passed away.

June cares about herself only! She’s proved that over and over, another child for her to mess up their life! I call BULLSHIT that her and Kaitlyn are close. It’s all about what June can get when she gets her.
