‘Yellowstone’ Creator, Cole Hauser Fought Years Before Lawsuit
There is some big trouble going on between some of the folks at Yellowstone. Besides Kevin Costner being jerked around in the press by unnamed Paramount sources, it looks like the series creator has a long-standing issue with another member of the cast.
It was just reported that Taylor Sheridan’s company Bosque Ranch is suing Cole Hauser’s new coffee company, Free Rein. But, it turns out that the showrunner and the actor who portrays Rip Wheeler in the Paramount series got into a physical fight years before the lawsuit. That is not the only sketchy thing going on between them.
What more do we know about the mercurial relationship between Taylor Sheridan and Cole Hauser?
Here are the latest details.
Yellowstone Creator, Cole Hauser Fought The Second Time They Met
This week, Yellowstone fans were blindsided when the news came out that Taylor Sheridan’s company was suing Cole Hauser’s coffee company. This was over a copyright infringement over the logo.
While this news already made fans of the Paramount series nervous as they still need to film the final series episodes, an old Cole Hauser interview has surfaced.
This interview was a 2022 article in Men’s Journal. This was a full exposé on Hauser, and how he grew up to portray Rip Wheeler. Hauser, whose mother’s maiden name was Warner, as in Warner Brothers, grew up on a ranch in Oregon. Eventually, he found his way to Hollywood, paying his dues as an unknown actor. It was at this time that he met Taylor Sheridan, a fellow actor.
However, it was the next time that the two met that they physically fought.
Hauser revealed that like his character, he is a good fighter. He joked “I’ve probably been in one on every continent. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with fighting. Sometimes I’m just tired of words, so let’s beat the sh*t out of each other. Maybe at the end of it you’ll buy me a Guinness and I’ll buy you a Bushmills, and we’ll be done. It’s kind of what guys do.”
Turns out, “Sheridan feels similarly.” Then, it was revealed that Sheridan revealed that he and Hauser got into a physical fight. “In fact, the second time he and Hauser met each other, the two of them got into a fight.”
Taylor Sheridan Uses Cole Hauser’s Early Life As Inspiration
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is praised for his storytelling. However, what seems a bit sketchy is that he “uses aspects of Hauser’s early life to elicit emotional responses from him on camera.”
In other words, Taylor and Cole know each other “well.” Therefore, to get the actor to act in the way he wants, Sheridan includes triggering content from his past.
Now, the two long-time associates are involved in a legal situation. Maybe they should skip the lawyers and fight for the winner instead.
