Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 saw the arrival of a new deckhand named Maximilien “Max” Salvador and now, the Frenchman wants to leave the Mustique early. It’s been a difficult season on the vessel for Captain Sandy, and she already lost some crew members.
Below Deck Med Season 8 Crew Problems
Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder arrived but they ran into visa problems in Genoa, Italy. While they got them sorted out, spoilers revealed that Kyle collapsed while cleaning up after their guests had enjoyed a late-night party. Tumi Mhlongo panicked after thinking he was just making too much of feeling dizzy.
Below Deck Med spoilers also revealed that Raun Irving allegedly falsified his Yachtmasters certificate. So, Captain Samdy sent him off the vessel. And, she won’t have him back until such time as he gets them sorted out. Devastated, he went away and then decided not to attempt a return. According to former Captain Lee Roschbach, it’s not the first time that sort of thing arose in the Bravo franchise.

Below Deck Med Max Salvador Tells Bosun Luka Brunton He’s Going
Bravo fans already decided that Max is lazy. However, Luka is from New Zealand, and if nothing else, people from that country know that time is valuable So, Max doesn’t fit in all that well. While the other crew members work, he plays around, exercising and fiddling about. He claimed that he suffers from ADHD. So far, he has lost his job on most charters in his short four-year career. This time, it seems that he’s not waiting for the ax to fall.
E! News carried a teaser for the next episode of Below Deck Med and in it, Luka Brunton was approached by Max. He said that he wanted to leave the Mustique, but couldn’t really explain what the problem was. Already, spoilers suggest that he’s keen to play and make money and not work as hard as the American-run operation demands.
Luka Asks Max The Deckhand To Stay
When Max said that he wanted to leave, he likened life to a “casino.” The outlet cited him as saying:
Like a casino, you win money. You come inside, you make money, you make money, you make money. And, like the casino, you need to know to go out, to make the cash out, you know? Before it’s too late and you lose everything…And now I just want to cash out.
Although he gave one charter’s notice, there are still four more to go. Luka was disappointed,d and asked Max to wait and see how the next charter panned out before walking off the vessel.
