‘DWTS’ Why Won’t Cheryl Burke Be In The Len Goodman Tribute?
Dancing With The Stars fans are excited to see the special dance tribute to Len Goodman on Tuesday. Many former DWTS pros are coming back to the ballroom to honor the former judge who passed away in April. But one long-time pro won’t be part of the magic.
Cheryl Burke retired as a pro at the end of last season. She received a special send-off during the show, but it seems like that really was the end of her time in the ballroom. Cheryl confirmed she will not be part of the tribute in Tuesday’s upcoming episode.
What exactly happened?
Cheryl Burke confirms she wasn’t invited
During Disney 100 Night, DWTS announced that several former pros would return for another routine in the ballroom. This is the first season to air after Len Goodman’s death, so the series thought it was a wonderful time to honor him.
But many fan-favorites aren’t participating, including Cheryl Burke.
“For those of you asking if I’ll be a part of Len Goodman’s tribute next week on DWTS, unfortunately, I wasn’t invited however, I’ll be there in spirit and can’t wait to cheer my former colleagues on! Sending love and light to everyone. 🤍🙏🏼 #riplen” the former pro shared on her Threads account.
“That’s not nice, someone made a serious blunder when they excluded you!!❤️” one follower replied.
“That is too bad because you were the reason we watched it every week years ago before the show changed so much!” another wrote.
Like many other Dancing With The Stars pros, Cheryl Burke loved and adored Len Goodman. She posted a heart-wrenching Instagram post after hearing about his death.
Why did DWTS producers exclude certain dancers?
Sharna Burgess hasn’t said much about the situation, but it doesn’t seem like she was invited back for the tribute dance either. Although many Dancing With The Stars fans are sad to see the women excluded, many think that the decision probably has a lot to do with the women’s respective podcasts.
Both Sharna and Cheryl have said things on their shows that don’t paint the series in the best light.
Over on Reddit, fans discussed the situation.
“I don’t think Cheryl is being fully transparent about producers and some pros not liking the podcast,” one Redditor wrote in a thread. “For her to be bitter and angry on the podcast and TPTB not invite her to the tribute dance makes me think something happened BTS last season. I think she really expected them to give her another role like judge or host and when they didn’t things probably turned sour.”
Many fans recall Cheryl Burke pushing to take over Len Goodman’s spot after his retirement. That never came to be and the show moved forward with three judges instead.
Do you think Dancing With The Stars was wrong not to invite Cheryl Burke to the tribute? Leave your opinions in the comments.
Tune into ABC at 8 PM Eastern time on Tuesday night to catch the episode and the Len Goodman tribute.
