Pat Sajak Flippantly Takes Jab At Vanna White?
Recently Wheel Of Fortune has been in the news as longtime host Pat Sajak announced his upcoming retirement plans. Surprisingly, his predecessor is another familiar face. Specifically, Ryan Seacrest will be sliding into Pat’s spot in 2024. While Vanna White and Pat Sajak have worked side by side almost his entire Wheel Of Fortune career, he can still surprise her from time to time. For instance, he cracked a joke in the latest episode about Vanna.
History In The Making
And while Pat Sajak will be retiring in 2024, Vanna White has decided to stay. Ryan Seacrest will step in for Pat, 76, following his astonishing 40-year hosting career. Reportedly, Vanna White, 66, finally has an extension to her contract following months of salary negotiations. In this case, her contract runs through the 2026 season. Ushering in the new host, fans will see her continue on the game show for at least two years with Ryan Seacrest.
According to TMZ, White receives a “substantial pay increase” with the new deal. Currently, the amount has not been disclosed. Presently, Vanna makes three million dollars each season. Notably, she requested a raise from the show’s producers, since she hasn’t seen one for at least 18 years. To make her point, she reportedly acquired a lawyer during negotiations. Comparatively, she asked for half of the current amount Pat Sajak receives. For the record, he brings in fifteen million dollars yearly.

Pat Sajak, Contestant, And Vanna White’s Banter
Surprisingly, the contestant, Beryl, had met Vanna White before her appearance in the competition. Confirming, Beryl said she met Vanna at the Myrtle Beach Airport in South Carolina in 2015. Saying, “[When I met her] she was so kind [and] she let me take a picture with her.” Part of her funny recollection was, “She was carrying a pound cake that her friend had made for her, taking it back home.” Even so, she poked fun that Vanna was “really nice,” however, she recalls Vanna wasn’t willing to share her pound cake with her. Although, after Beryl shared her memory of interacting with Vanna, she sadly didn’t win the grand prize.
Pat Sajak Takes Jab At Vanna White
Not only did the contestant give Vanna a hard time, but so did Pat Sajak. Even though contestant Beryl missed out on winning $100K, Pat Sajak offered an unheard-of consolation prize. To soften the blow, Pat Sajak flippantly joked, “You’re replacing Vanna!” “Well, you didn’t get the $100,000, but instead, you’re replacing Vanna,” Pat joked with Beryl. “No not at all!” he then reassured everyone. However, Vanna White took the slight jab in stride, as she has for nearly 40 years.
Continuing to playfully tease Vanna, Pat insisted that Vanna needs to “make it up” to Beryl since she didn’t share her pound cake at the airport. Furthermore, Vanna is such a good sport that she comes back on stage with a slice of pound cake to give Beryl. But Pat grabs it and tells everyone he’ll see them next time!
