When Billy Miller passed away, the soap world was devastated. They had lost a very special person to their community and a dear friend. The Emmy winner was best known for his roles on both General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. It was suspected that he had taken his own life which was heartbreaking. Though he had been struggling with manic depression, it was hard to think that he would ever commit suicide. Now, according to Soap Opera Digest, his mother, Patricia has broken her silence. She is now sharing what happened to Billy and confirmed his cause of death.

She started off by thanking everyone for their support during this time. Fans and co-stars alike have been right there with memories and tearful tributes. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ — Billy Miller.” Patricia then confirmed that he had struggled with bipolar disorder for a long time. She noted that he had done his best to fight the war but sadly, he could not do it anymore.

Patricia added: “He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.” She really wanted to debunk all of the other myths surrounding his death that had been going around. His mother, again, thanked everyone but said that they had nothing further to say. At this point, they are grieving the loss of their son and beloved family member. It is a terrible time for all.
