'My 600-lb Life': Season 3 Laura Perez Dead At 48

My 600-lb Life Laura Perez had an incredible weight loss journey. She struggled with her daily life and needed to use a wheelchair. She also had an oxygen tank wherever she went. Her weight gain began when she was a child. She was sexually abused when she was five and used food to cope with her difficult past. However, with her life on the line, she sought Dr. Now’s help on Season 3.

My 600-lb Life: Laura Perez Suffered Complications During Surgery

Laura appeared on the show at 594 lbs. She was nowhere near healthy and had problems moving when she met Dr. Now. Her weight loss journey wasn’t as smooth as the other patients on the show. The former My 600-lb Life star suffered a complication during her bariatric surgery. Instead of having a gastric bypass procedure, she underwent a gastrectomy.

Dr. Now had to remove four-fifths of her stomach after discovering that she had an enlarged liver and spleen. Furthermore, she suffered from pneumonia after the procedure and almost died. Fortunately, she overcame the challenges and lost 237 pounds. Her last reported weight was 182 lbs.

My 600-lb Life featured Laura’s husband, Joey. They began to face problems in their marriage when Laura started losing weight. He was not supportive of his wife trying to get back in shape. Some fans also labeled her relatives as enablers.

Laura Perez continued to focus on her goals and ended up divorcing Joey. But she later found love and got married in 2018 to a man named Eric Juarez. She moved to Texas and had two children.

Laura Perez Passed Away

Laura’s Facebook page was deleted and no one had heard from Laura for quite a while. Sadly, she passed away on November 17, 2021, at the age of 48. Laura kept the weight off but stress seemed to be a large part of her life. She shared that she had been under so much stress but was still thankful for all the support and love she had been receiving from fans.
