Jill Duggar Says Parents Put Jana In ‘Unsafe & Unwise’ Situation
Former Counting On star Jill Duggar Dillard is opening up and revealing how her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, put her sister, Jana, in an “unsafe and unwise” situation. This is the first time Jill has shared so many details about this situation. What happened to Jana, and how does Jill feel about it today? Read on for all of the details she’s spilled publicly.

On Tuesday, September 12, Jill Duggar released her book, Counting the Cost. In it, she addresses many details about her family that fans didn’t previously know. She opens up about her TLC contract, which she says she unknowingly signed, as well as the pitiful pay she received.
Also in her book, the Duggar daughter explains some of the beliefs her family held as a part of the Institute in Basic Life Principles. Now, she’s sharing more about the IBLP and just how closely involved her family was. It got to a point where she realizes her sister Jana Duggar could have been in danger.

In her book, Jill Duggar Dillard explains that Jana became one of “Gothard’s girls.” Bill Gothard was the founder of the IBLP but has since stepped down amid serious allegations. She takes fans on a walk down memory lane, revealing an “unsafe” situation her sister could have ended up in as a teen. After the Duggars became a “Model Family” in the IBLP, Jill and some of her sisters were asked to attend a camp and “serve as leaders.”
After attending the camp, Gothard invited Jana to the IBLP headquarters in Chicago to work with him. In her book, Jill Duggar explains:
“She was the only elder Duggar girl who was blond, and everybody knew that Mr. Gothard liked blond girls. We’d joke about it, calling Jana one of ‘Gothard’s Girls.’ It didn’t occur to me at all how strange, unsafe, and unwise it was. And if I had, I doubt I would have been able to speak out against it. Sweet Jilly Muffin had grown up, but I was still terrified of conflict and would do anything I could to avoid it.”
Of course, back when this happened, this was years prior to the allegations coming out against Gothard. So, there was no way Jill would have known any better. But now, she realizes just how dangerous this could have been for Jana. It’s unclear how much Jim Bob and Michelle knew at the time or whether they had concerns about this.
