On Patrol: Live Update On Multiple Missing Persons Saved
Fans are obsessed with what happens weekly on On Patrol: Live. When the series went on hiatus for two weeks, viewers were up in arms. They wanted to know why the break and when it would return. Though Reelz tried to pacify fans by doing a Labor Day Weekend marathon, it was still not enough. Then, it was announced that there would be a huge surprise upon the return of the show on September 8th. Everyone has been on Twitter and Reddit trying to guess what this surprise is while waiting in anticipation. At the same time, the one thing about OPL is the good that it does as a whole.
According to TV Insider, On Patrol: Live along with its faithful viewers has helped to find twenty-four missing people. That is a huge amount that may have been lost in the shuffle without the program. Executive Producer John Zito had this to say: “We’re incredibly proud that in just one year of On Patrol: Live being on air, 24 people whose cases appeared on our ‘Missing’ segments have been recovered safely. Missing persons cases are among the most heart-wrenching issues we see while documenting the work of law enforcement and a major reason why we wanted to work with NCMEC and BAMFI.”
Zito went on to note that displaying the missing persons on the show furthers the reach than ever before. Furthermore, he acknowledged how much their viewers have helped as they have taken their own vested interest. Through the utilization of social media, it continues to spread the word and get the missing home safely and in a timely manner. This is just one example of OPL and their fans working as a team which is really beautiful.
The Social Media Effect
During On Patrol: Live, they will tweet the missing persons out on both the show and network page. Then, viewers will help by retweeting and this reach is so much bigger than ever before. That has helped to raise awareness and bring these twenty-four people home. Now, to see what will happen in the next year as the fanbase grows is both exciting and daunting. Can they top that number? What will come next? Only time will tell but this is just another reason to get invested in OPL.
