In a shocking move, The Today Show’s famed meteorologist, Al Roker is headed to another network. He has had such an allegiance and now, it seems that he has jumped ship. Al Roker has been through so much with his health and recovery. Throughout it all, he has had his faithful Today Show family to support and cheer him on. They have made him feel beloved and missed when he could not make it back into the studio. Furthermore, he has fans all over the world who count on his cheerful demeanor daily. They also enjoy sneak peeks into his life such as him becoming a grandfather and his latest project. Roker made a documentary that was well-received at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. Yet, did he leave NBC for another network and why would he do such a dramatic thing?

According to The Sun, his move is not as serious as it seems and is actually quite exciting. On Thursday, August 31st, Al Roker announced that he will appear in Billions which airs on Showtime. So, who is the meteorologist playing on the show? As it turns out, his role is not much of a stretch as he will be playing himself. His goal, in the episode, will be to explain hurricane logistics and ratings. So, it is actually an educational part for Al. Luckily, he has already received praise for the small part.

Co-host Sheinelle Jones had this to say: “It’s so good!” Of course, Al Roker said what he shared about hurricanes on the show was “fiction.” To that, Dylan Dreyer teased Al that he was getting “typecast” which was fine with him. He figures he will just keep doing what he knows for now. Al further explained that the short scene took forty-five minutes to film yet Dylan noted that he had a lot of lines to say. When Will His Episode Air?

So, when can Today fans catch Al Roker’s big Billons premiere? His episode is set to air Friday, September 1st but only for those who have Showtime with Paramount+. This is a big deal as it is the final season of the hit Showtime series. Who knows what other gigs this could bring Al’s way if he is interested? Fortunately, he may be headed to another network but it is only for one night.
