Sarah Simmons joined the cast of Love After Lockup in Season 2 when she was in love with inmate Michael Simmons. He had been incarcerated for two years but she also had to contend with another woman. He had been playing both her and another young woman named Megan. Megan believed that she and Michael were going to end up together when he was released. Yet, he had a secret- he was engaged to Sarah and they had a child. Wait, there’s more. They were actually married so when he was released, he played both of them which was cruel as Megan was a virgin.
Eventually, Sarah got pregnant again and when the women finally did end up getting to chat, they were mad at each other. As time went by, Sarah realized that she wanted to be done with Michael. He went from Love After Lockup to back into lockup as he kept getting arrested. Both he and Sarah tried to move on but they somehow could not break free. Now, Sarah Simmons is giving a marriage update but what does she have to say? She spoke to WeTV about where she currently stands.

Sarah Simmons admits that getting married again scares her and for good reason. She shares that she does have a boyfriend and while they are both open to the idea, there is one big hurdle. Sarah and Michael are still legally married. She says this with a frustrated look, a head shake, and an eye roll. Fans immediately had some strong reactions to this revelation.
Why Is She Still Married?
Love After Lockup fans believed that there was a reason Sarah Simmons was still married to Michael Simmons. “Ain’t no excuse for you to still be married unless you still want that little boy,” one noted. Another added: “After all this time?? Please! She wants to stay in that marriage…not like they have any “assets” to divide 🤣.” Yet, one follower said that they really wanted to see more content from the former couple because that kept the show interesting.
