How did Sister Wives patriarch Kody Brown protect his TLC paycheck? So much has gone on over the seasons that could have caused the show to end. It had become somewhat redundant, there was a significant time delay, and wives were scattered. Eventually, it was not the happy polygamist show that had been pitched. Rather, it showed the dark side of plural marriage with Kody even questioning what he was doing. So, how was he able to keep the long-running series going so that the money kept coming in? Read on for more details.

Sister Wives How Kody Brown Protected TLC Paycheck?

When Sister Wives began in 2010, it was the perfect situation. Kody Brown was living in one home with his three long-term wives. He had been married to Meri since 1990, Janelle since 1993, and Christine since 1994. Together, they had a total of twelve children with one more on the way. Yet, he was also courting a new, young woman, Robyn Sullivan, who was divorced with three kids and lived five hours away. Fans were intrigued by how this whole dynamic worked and how he juggled three wives, a new prospect, and all of his children.

A lot has happened since then. Kody Brown married Robyn, the family moved from Utah to Las Vegas, he divorced Meri to wed Robyn, they moved to Flagstaff, and the pandemic hit. Along with that, Kody admitted he was done with a romantic relationship with Meri and Christine left the family. He began to question all he had known and believed in. Yet, while this was happening, it was not in real-time which was often hard for the viewers. A Reddit thread has since started to question how Kody kept his TLC money.

The OP started off with this: “Did Kody want to move to Flagstaff for show ratings.” Though they believed that it was for Dayton’s school, it may have also been to create more drama for the flow of the show. While some actually believed that Kody Brown struggled in Vegas, there was drama about them living in one house again. This became a hard no after the four wives lived in their own homes in Vegas.

All For Show?

One Redditor chimed in with this: “I saw that TLC paid for the big house plans as content for the show. There was never a true desire for that to actually happen, even on Kody’s end lol.” Others did agree that the move was perfect to stir the pot as they are always filled with so much craziness. In a weird way, the move mixed with the pandemic and Kody’s raging behavior actually helped the show. Christine left which made viewers curious and then, during the Season 17 tell-all, Meri and Janelle revealed that they left, as well. So, now fans are tuning in to watch the downfall of the once-happy and functioning family.

Is this enough to keep the TLC money rolling in for a few more seasons? Let us know and watch Sister Wives August 20th on TLC.
