‘The View’ Joy Behar Answers How Long She Will Be On Show
Joy Behar has been with The View since the show started in 1997 and she has revealed that she won’t remain on the show forever. Throughout the 26 seasons of the show, Behar has appeared in all but two of the seasons, taking off in the 17th and 18th seasons of the show. But, is her time coming to an end?
Here is a look at how long Behar said she wants to remain with The View.
Joy Behar announces that she plans to leave The View
Joy Behar, 80, was talking on The View this past week and took the time to correct one of her co-hosts, Alyssa Farah Griffin. This happened in the Hot Topics segment with Joy, Alyssa, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Rachel Lindsay (Bachelorette). The question during the discussion was whether any of them would want to be a housewife if they were not also raising kids.
Alyssa really got into the question. She said a woman’s choice should only depend on what brings her the most fulfillment. That is when she brought up Joy. Her answer was that for her fulfillment, she would want to work forever “like Joy.” She then said that working brings her happiness and fulfillment. However, this comment brought a reaction from Joy.
The 80-year-old veteran host looked at Alyssa and said, “What makes you think I wanna work forever?” She then asked if Alyssa was “nuts” before saying, “No, no no.” While Joy didn’t say when she planned to leave The View, she did admit that she won’t stick around on the show for the rest of her life, and there is an endpoint in sight somewhere in the future.
Joy Behar mentions her two seasons off The View
As mentioned, Joy took off two seasons from The View, and she recently mentioned that it was “forced.” The hosts were talking about Tina Turner’s sad passing, and that is when Joy mentioned that she has been on the show for 26 years. However, she then paused and said, “with a small hiatus as we all know, forced.”
Joy Behar had announced she was leaving The View at the end of the 16th season. Elizabeth Hasselbeck also left at the same time. At that time, Hasselbeck said both women were told to leave because their opinions were too “polarizing.” Barbara Walters denied this, but after Walters retired, Behar returned in Season 19 and has been there ever since. However, don’t expect to see her around much longer. At 80, Behar might want to do something else in her later years, based on her comments.
