Kyle Richards Called Out For Joke About Serious Medical Disease
Kyle Richards just made a joke about her estranged husband on social media. However, what she was joking about was really no laughing matter to countless people across the United States. Richards mocked a serious medical condition that is affecting people, partially thanks to several members of the Real Housewives cast.
Here is what Kyle said and why it was so offensive to many people.
Kyle Richards makes a joke about Ozempic
Ever since Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky split up, Mauricio has made some dramatic changes to his physical appearance. He took a photo of himself in his home gym and is ripped and chiseled and looks amazing for a 54-year-old man. When he posted the photo on Instagram about his new appearance, Kyle was one of the people who commented on the picture.
In her comment, Kyle wrote, “Must be the Ozempic” with two emojis, one a tongue sticking out and the second crying laughing. For his part, Mariicio responded in a lighthearted manner, tagging his estranged wife and writing “must be” with three laughing crying emojis. It all seemed in good fun, but there were fans who were not amused.
One fan responded that Kyle’s comment was “hilarious.” A second responded that “jokes about drugs meant for diabetics is sooo funny right?”
There is a huge controversy right now concerning the diabetic drug Ozempic. It is a drug for diabetics to help them control their blood sugar levels. However, it is also in short supply and there are diabetics who can’t get their prescriptions filled because a lot of people are using Ozempic as a weight loss drug. This entire trend of using this diabetic medicine to lose weight started thanks to a TikTok trend.
Real Housewives cast members accused of using Ozempic for weight loss
This joke hits hard because of the controversy with the Real Housewives franchise and the use of Ozempic as a weight loss drug. It started when some of the cast were accused of using Ozempic for weight loss. Andy Cohen jokingly called the franchise The Real Housewives of Ozempic.
Kyle Richards herself was accused of using Ozempic to lose weight. This was likely why she made the joke. She took aim at people who accused her of using it to slim down. If people can claim she did it to lose weight, it is only fair that men are targeted as well. Kyle said she was too scared to use it.
However, Dolores Catania of RHONJ admitted that she did use it to stay slim after undergoing plastic surgery. Her admission also cast a light on others, including Gina Kirschenheiter, who denied it, telling people to “go kick rocks.”
