Vanna White In Talks To Stay On ‘Wheel Of Fortune’
While Pat Sajak is retiring after the next season of Wheel of Fortune, his long-time on-air partner Vanna White’s future is up in the air. This comes after she lost out on the hosting job to Ryan Seacrest.
Here is a look at what Wheel of Fortune fans might expect from Vanna White in the future.
Vanna White in talks to stay on Wheel of Fortune
Pat Sajak is retiring from Wheel of Fortune after Season 41, which means his last shows will be around June 2024. The 76-year-old host holds the Guinness Book of World Records title as the longest gameshow host, and he will add a little onto that record over the next year. However, his long-time partner on the show is in talks to stay. Vanna White, 66, is in talks to return when Ryan Seacrest takes over as the new host.
Vanna has been on Wheel of Fortune since 1982. According to PEOPLE, White is in talks with Sony Pictures Television to remain on the show. A source indicated, “They are in negotiations with her, and would like to have her back.” This might be easy as Paty Sajak will remain on the show as a consultant for the next three years.
Vanna sent out a tweet supporting Pat in his retirement and said she was happy to spend all these seasons with him on the show. However, she also spoke to PEOPLE and said that she didn’t think it would be normal to see someone else turning the letters. “Everybody relates Wheel of Fortune to Pat and Vanna. We’re like Ken and Barbie, you know?” Vanna said. “It would be weird having somebody else turn my letters.”
Vanna White recently made news about her salary
The problem is that if Wheel of Fortune wants Vanna White back, it will have to come with a major pay raise. As mentioned, Vanna was one of the names up for the role of the new Wheel of Fortune host before Sony chose Ryan Seacrest. After Ryan got the job, Vanna hired a new high-profile attorney.
Through her time on the show, Vanna White makes $3 million a year. That sounds like a lot of money, but it was the same amount she was making 18 years ago, and she has never gotten a raise. In comparison, Pat Sajak was making $15 million a year, or five times what Vanna was making. According to TMZ, Vanna hired the attorney because she wants someone representing her when she decides whether to return. She wants a raise.
Wheel of Fortune has always introduced Pat Sajak and Vanna White as the “stars of our show,” and she wants to be paid more equally now. Her new attorney has let Sony know that Vanna wants at least half of what Pat makes. Vanna has reportedly said that this is about the pay discrepancy between men and women.
