Tragic breaking news — longtime Houston rapper Big Pokey has been confirmed dead at the age of 45 following a jarring collapse on stage. What happened exactly that caused him to collapse while on stage? Keep reading for the tragic details.

Born as Milton Powell, the Houston rapper was reportedly performing at a bar near Beaumont when he suddenly collapsed. Tragically, per TMZ, this scary accident resulted in the rapper passing away.

In terrifying video footage, which can be watched by clicking here, Big Pokey can be seen standing on a stage that appears to be elevated about two stories up in the air. The rapper is seemingly performing with a microphone in his hand and interacting with the DJ.

In the disturbing video footage, Big Pokey can be heard expelling a large amount of air before suddenly tumbling backward and hitting the ground. While people could be seen rushing to the rapper, the individuals on the stage with him didn’t immediately appear to think it was a very serious situation. Some could be heard giggling and asking him if he was alright.

As the video progressed, it became clear the situation was serious as people could be seen fanning the rapper and someone shouted “She’s a nurse” before allowing a woman to pass and help him.

The nurse attempted to provide him with emergency care and the crowd around him continued to fan him in an attempt to circular air and hopefully wake him up. Unfortunately, they were not successful. A little after midnight, emergency responders arrived at the scene and he was transported to a nearby hospital. TMZ reports he was confirmed dead sometime after arriving at the hospital. At this time, his exact cause of death has not been made public.

A representative of Big Pokey confirmed with “deep sadness” that the rapper passed away before issuing an official statement regarding his passing:

Big Pokey passed away … He was well loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects. We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter!'”

Fans of the rapper have begun to pour into the comments of his Instagram post to pay tribute and say their farewells.
