On the release date of Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, Jim Bob and Michelle posted a statement on their blog. The couple made it clear that they strongly disapprove of the docuseries and its content.
They said, “The recent ‘documentary’ that talks about our family is sad because in it we see the media and those with ill intentions hurting people we love.”
Then, the Duggar family added, “This ‘documentary’ paints so much and so many in a derogatory and sensationalized way because sadly that’s the direction of entertainment these days.”

An insider shared more details about how the family is coping with the docuseries release. The source told InTouch Weekly that Jim Bob and Michelle “don’t want” their young kids watching the series. However, the insider admitted that might be easier said than done. They explained, “There’s no way around it. You can stick your head in the sand, but it’s all anyone is talking about. Some refuse to watch it, while others watch it in secret.”
Due to the popularity of the series and its damning content against the Duggars and the religion, it’s seemingly hitting their family pretty hard. The insider added, “Their family dynamic is literally collapsing.”
