Skyler Samuels Brings ‘Something New’ To Hallmark’s ‘Aurora Teagarden’
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is bringing back the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. However, this is a prequel-spinoff movie that stars Skyler Samuels as super sleuth Roe, before she is a librarian and part of the Real Murders Club.
Skyler recently shared some insights on her role in Something New. What did she have to say?

When Candace Cameron Bure defected from Hallmark for GAC, she left the cast of Aurora Teagarden Mysteries stars unemployed, as the series was over. However, Hallmark surprised everyone in April with the announcement that they were bringing back the sleuth, but at a different period of her life.
Now, Skyler Samuels portrays college-aged Aurora. She is working on her thesis, working two jobs. One is helping a true-crime author and professor as a teaching assistant by day. By night, she works at a local diner. There, she connects with her childhood friend Sally, as well as Arthur, who is now in law enforcement.
Speaking to Digital Journal, The Gabby Petito Story actress shared what it is like taking over this role.
It has been so much fun getting to be Aurora, we have had such a great time filming. It was such a great group of people from our crew to our cast. It was just so much fun.
In other words, this movie promises to be fun. But, will this mystery be loyal to the original series?
Is New Hallmark Mystery Loyal To Original Series?
Many Sleuthers may be concerned that Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New may not respect the original series. Firstly, Teena Booth, who wrote the screenplay of all of the original movies also wrote this screenplay.
Second, Skyler shares that the original audience should be happy with this new movie. She shares that it is “very loyal” to the original series. As this is sort of an origin story, there will be Easter eggs throughout the movie.
However, there will also be a few new changes that she hopes will bring new and old fans to the series. She shared that although the series is “loyal,” there is a “take on the new Aurora and her whole world, which is very different than the original movies.” She continued that these tweaks will “open up an opportunity for a whole new audience, a younger generation of people.”
Skyler Samuels hopes that can “reach a wide audience with this movie.”
